I’m not a fan of the “1,000 things you’ve got to see/eat/do/make before you die” books (1,000 seems a tad ambitious), but I do like lists. I make lists all the time, so when someone else makes a list, I pay attention, especially when that list is about books.

Amazon has a list of “100 Books to Read in a Lifetime“. It has a 20th-century empahsis. I’m proud to say that I’ve read 29 of those books, which leaves 70 to go. (That’s not a typo; I think I’m safe in skipping Gone Girl.)

The Guardian is also running a list of “The 100 best novels“, and are, as of this writing, up to number 84. With its emphasis on English literature, I’m not surprised that I’ve only read 11 of the books on that list. However, it did include three of my favorite books (Dracula, Lord of the Flies, and Frankenstein) that Amazon left off.

What books are on your “100 Books” list? Feel free to comment.
